Foundation Stage at Al Madar

We follow England’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework across its seven areas of learning, from communication and language to maths and understanding the world, in spacious classrooms that open onto a garden of their own. Children learn in Arabic and English together, through stories, songs and guided play.

Each class has a teacher and two assistants and no more than twenty children, and every week parents receive a short note about their child’s days and learning.

Highlights of the phase

  • A teacher and two assistants in every class
  • Guided play in Arabic and English
  • A garden and play area of their own
  • Daily stories, sensory play and music
  • Introductory swimming once a week
  • A weekly learning note for parents

What age does my child need to be for FS1?

Children join FS1 if they turn three before 31 August of the joining year, and FS2 if they turn four before the same date.

Does my child need to speak English?

No. Children learn both languages together from day one, and we support those who start with one language until they settle.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

We support children gently at this stage and agree one shared plan with parents for home and school.
